01 — OUR STORY

A city, a bouquet
of sunflowers

Every frame below is really them — shot on the streets of downtown Toronto, and a few of them painted in watercolor. Tap any photo to see it up close.

Real, then painted. Some of these moments exist twice — once as a photograph, once as a watercolor. You’ll find the painted Yonge-Dundas portrait in the chapters below, with a toggle to flip between the two.

02 — THE CHAPTERS

How Toronto
tells it

We don’t need to invent a story — the photos already tell one.

Deeksha and Tushar at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto
Chapter One · Yonge-Dundas Square

In the middle of it all

The whole city was in a hurry — billboards flashing, traffic streaming past, a thousand people with somewhere else to be. But right in the middle of it, Deeksha and Tushar stood perfectly still, holding on to each other as if the noise were nothing more than music playing just for them. It is the moment they keep twice — once as a photograph, once as a painting — as if once wasn’t quite enough.

Chapter Two · Richmond St W

Sunflowers in the city

She crossed the street with sunflowers in her arms, carrying a little piece of the sun through downtown while he walked beside her, the bottle in his hand. Halfway across, mid-stride, she turned and looked back over her shoulder at him — and he was already looking at her, the way he always seems to be. The city kept moving around them; for one green light, they were in no hurry at all.

Chapter Three · The Ledge

Martinis & golden hour

Two martini glasses on a stone ledge, the light going gold over the street, and nowhere in the world they needed to be. Deeksha raised her glass and took a slow sip while Tushar sat beside her, entirely content just to watch her enjoy it. Some evenings don’t need an occasion — this one only needed the two of them.

Chapter Four · The Crosswalk

Dancing in the street

Most people cross a street to get somewhere; these two stopped in the middle of it to dance. Hands held, the city streaming around them, they turned an ordinary crossing into a ballroom for the length of one light. It lasted only a moment, but it said everything — wherever they go, the celebration seems to start before they even arrive.
